“I graduated from UMaine with a degree in Biology, later obtaining my Veterinary Technology degree. After working in this field 8 years, I was hired by the brand new St Croix Tissue(SCT). Here, I have worked as a machine operator, in quality, as a tissue machine Superintendent, and now an operations maintenance coordinator. I enjoy working at SCT because there is always more to learn. No two days are ever the same. Why do I like living here? I enjoy the natural landscape; hiking, boating, swimming, gardening and generally being outside.” ~ Sara Krug

“I graduated from the University of Maine in 2013 with a degree in Chemical Engineering. After graduating I became a process engineer with Verso Paper and then SCA; gaining paper, pulp, and converting experience. I joined the St. Croix team as a production engineer in 2016 to assist with the startup of TM2. Since then I have transitioned through Superintendent and Quality/Technical roles and am currently the Operations Manager for the tissue mill. I’ve enjoyed my time with St. Croix as I have been in a variety of roles and a part of many different aspects of running a mill, and I am fortunate to work with a great team of people. The Downeast area provides a lot of opportunities to spend time outdoors, and I appreciate being in Maine near my family.” ~ Jesse Stephens

Living in the St. Croix River Valley

St. Croix Tissue is located along the Maine-Canadian border in Baileyville, Maine. It’s a family-friendly town that boasts one of the best school systems in Washington County. Baileyville offers a medical facility, restaurants, grocery store, convenience store, gas stations and parks.

Baileyville is only 90 minutes from downtown Bangor and just 15 minutes from Calais. Calais is known for its shopping, historic buildings, and natural beauty, and is home to Washington County Community College.

The St. Croix River Valley is one of Maine’s most treasured natural resources. This area is one of the few principal nesting areas for the American Bald Eagle and is home to the Moosehorn Wildlife Refuge.

The area is also a sportsman’s delight, with snowmobile and ATV trails throughout. For hunters, big game species include moose, deer and bear, and there is a wide range of waterfowl and inland birds. The area is also known for superb smallmouth bass and salmon fishing, as well as world-class kayaking and canoeing.
