Angel Tree Donations and Parade Giveaways Exemplify the Spirit of the Season

BAILEYVILLE, ME – The Angel Tree in the administration building for St. Croix Tissue, Woodland Pulp, and St Croix Chipping was both colorful and overflowing last week. This season, 417 tags were picked off the Angel Trees around the mill and filled by employees, vendors, contractors and local unions. As we know, 2023 has continued to bring financial struggles for many in the area and the need for gifts was great. The gifts were delivered to students at area schools in Topsfield, Princeton and Baileyville in hopes of helping these children have a merrier Christmas this year.

Additionally, a joint St Croix Chipping, Woodland Pulp and St Croix Tissue float featuring a snowman made of tissue paper rolls accompanied by employees and their children, participated in both the Calais and Baileyville holiday parades. The float was also stacked high with toilet paper and paper towel rolls made from the base paper manufactured by St Croix Tissue and this was given away to parade spectators along the route.

We appreciate the heartfelt generosity and care shown by our employees, vendors, contractors and local unions for their community during this holiday season and are proud of their efforts.

The Growing Tissue Paper Industry

“In an industry where most grades of paper are facing slack demand, tissues are one of the few specialties where sales are actually climbing,” says John Williams, president of the Maine Pulp and Paper Association (as quoted in the Portland Press Herald, 3/12/14)

With today’s digital age, demand for most grades of paper products continues to drop, however, there is a steadily rising demand for toilet and tissue paper that goes with population growth.
