St. Croix Tissue and Woodland Pulp sponsor and present workshop at Totally Trades Event

Calais, ME – On Friday October 25, a Totally Trades! Conference was held at Washington County Community College.  St. Croix Tissue and Woodland Pulp were pleased to both be a sponsor and present a workshop at the event. Totally Trades! conferences are organized by New Ventures Maine and occur throughout the state to encourage female 8th grade and high school students to consider careers in fields traditionally dominated by men.  These hands-on workshops give girls the opportunity to explore careers in trades and technology fields.

This year, young women attending our workshop learned about the pulp and paper-making process, job opportunities available at the mill, and each student was able to make their own paper hand-sheet to bring home.

New Ventures Maine helps people all over Maine by offering tuition-free programs for career, business, and financial education. As an employer with a 20% female workforce, St. Croix Tissue looks forward to growing our relationship with Totally Trades! and strengthening the skills of female students in Maine.
